Rink Rat & 10K Puck Challenge
RINK RAT CHALLENGE
An association-wide challenge running from the start of outdoor ice in the community to its eventual spring thaw. Athletes should keep track of their time on the ice OUTSIDE of association/team specific practices or games. This helps our players development by fostering high-volume repetition, skill improvement through experimentation and creativity, fostering “hockey sense”/autonomy and improving conditioning/skating ability. Once they reach 50 hours of unstructured ice time, they will receive a t-shirt. Hours must be kept track/verified by an adult. Once completed, athletes will received a rink rat challenge t-shirt.
10K Puck Challenge
An off-season association wide challenge running from April 1-October 31 of a calendar year, where athletes are encouraged to shoot 10,000 hockey shots. This helps our players increase shot power and speed, increase their accuracy, speed up their releases, increase confidence with a variety of shots and provides players with low-cost training and with discipline. Shots must be kept track of/verified by an adult. Once completed, athletes will receive a 10,000 puck challenge t-shirt.
