2019-2020 x Regular Season

Method to my Madness for Boys Scrimmages

We want to get our 3rd graders who will be playing full ice hockey some exposure to rules like offsides and gameplay of full ice hockey before the season ends.  As such, we will be scrimmaging the boys mites who are arranged in skills groups.  To make the experience useful to both the boys and the girls I have drafted teams that will hopefully be competitive and intermix some 10u girls who already know the rules so that our 3rd graders can "fit in" rather than "learn from scratch".  Depending on the skill of the boys groups there may be only a couple 3rd graders or there may be all of them.

Unfortunately, SportsEngine has lost it functionality to selectively invite players from a roster from an event.  As I list these events, my only option is to change RSVP status.  If you are listed as "no" the event is not meant for you.  If you are listed as "maybe"  please go in and change to "yes" or "no" based on your availability.

On to 2020!

Hello all,

First and foremost thank you again for giving your daughters the opportunity to learn to play hockey.

With outdoor ice all set up, we will continue to have practice on tuesday when weather allows at Murphy rink.  It will usually be minimally structured, allowing the girls to play rink rat hockey with each other.  Usually if the wind chill is -10 or the raw temp is less than 0 it will be cancelled as we don't want them to get hurt or be miserable.  Please feel free to decide for yourself what is a reasonable temperature to have your child out there even if it is not cancelled but the temps are poor.

On Thursdays we have the pavillion from 5pm-6pm.  Thursday nights are all girls teams out there so this will sometimes be a more formal practice and sometimes another fun rink rat opportunity.  Sometimes there will be some older girls mixing in for mentorship and sometimes your girls will be able to stay on the ice with the older girls after.  Please keep in mind this is a work progress (girls getting mentored, and girls learning how to mentor).  This week 1/9 we are going to try to do the lightning cup outdoors so your girls will be off the ice at 6pm unless they are in 3rd grade.

We will continue to have all 6u and 8u girls practice on wednesdays and on sundays.  When ice is available, we will split their practices on the weekends to reduce ice congestion.  You will start seeing some girls HS players at these practices as well to help mentor and coach our kids!  Exciting stuff!

NEW EVENT - JAN31-FEB14th DURING SOME OF OUR PAVILION TIME AND SOME OF THE BOYS MITES WE WILL BE DOING A FULL ICE SCRIMMAGE WITH THE 3RD GRADE GIRLS ONLY TO START PREPARING THEM FOR 10U NEXT YEAR.  IF WE ARE SHORT I WILL REACH OUT TO THE MOST ADVANCED 2ND GRADERS.  THIS IS AN IMPORTANT LEARNING OPPORTUNITY FOR THOSE MOVING UP TO FULL ICE HOCKEY NEXT FALL!  THIS HAS BEEN UPDATED IN SPORTS ENGINE.

Any questions text me 398-2625 (I will reply when I can) or send a note to all on the sportengine message feature.  Odds are good if you have a question, with 52 other families someone else has the same question as well as that someone may get you the answer quicker than I can.

Again, thank you for giving your daughter this awesome opportunity,

Jeremy Carlson and all of our wonderful 8u/6u coaches.
